Gas Stations Coming to an Orbit Near You!

The California based start-up company Orbit Fab announced their plans to launch ‘gas stations’ to orbit by 2025. This fuel depot will deliver hydrazine for satellites in geostationary orbit and to spacecrafts with RAFTI ports. RAFTI ports – or Rapidly Attachable Fluid Transfer Interface ports – will allow for seamless refueling in orbit without the need for complex docking procedures. With space gas stations and RAFTI ports, satellites and spacecrafts will no longer be limited solely on the fuel they were launched with, improving space sustainability.
