NASA Technology in the Fight Against the Pandemic

Space is hard. NASA is often required to develop new technologies and create an innovative approach to a near-impossible mission. In its 46th edition, NASA’s Spinoff explains the latest and greatest ways that space technology is improving life on Earth.

One case began in the 90s when NASA funded and helped pioneer a process in called photocatalytic oxidation; a process to remove pollutants from the air and water. This method then made its way to the ISS to assist with plant growth. Air purifiers are now using this process in schools, hospitals, and airplanes to eliminate the coronavirus!

From huge, vertical farms that run on a limited water supply, to combating climate change, NASA strives for its technology to benefit the broadest population as possible.
