Lucy Mission Ready for ATLO

NASA’s Lucy mission passed a major milestone in its lifecycle and is ready to begin assembly, test, and launch operations (ATLO)! Despite the adversities of building a spacecraft during a global pandemic, the creative planning of the Lucy team has kept the mission on track for its scheduled launch in October 2021.

“Working on Lucy through the unprecedented pandemic of 2020 has been challenging but we are now 1 week from our first flight software delivery to ATLO,” said Steve Carmer, a Red Canyon Flight Software Engineer. “We passed our ATLO readiness review last week, so now it’s time to start building the first mission to Jupiter’s Trojan asteroids!” The Trojan asteroids orbit the sun in Jupiter’s path, leading and trailing behind the gas giant.
