Juno’s Closest Approach to Europa

On September 29th, NASA’s Juno spacecraft flew 219 miles above the surface of Jupiter’s ice moon, Europa, capturing the most detailed pictures to date! The pictures are an important step towards unlocking Europa’s icy terrain. These photos will help guide future missions to Europa, such as the Europa Clipper – a mission designed to study the atmosphere, surface, and interior of the icy moon.

Red Canyon is a proud contributor to the Juno mission! Our stellar engineers assisted the flight software teams through developing the telemetry, memory management, and communication protocols for this spacecraft; guiding Juno on a flight that has taken it 1.7 billion miles since its launch in 2011!
