July 2020 Full “Buck” Moon and Partial Penumbral Lunar Eclipse

Get your space instruments ready to look up at the first Full Moon of summer this 4th of July! The Full “Buck” Moon, named by the Algonquin tribes for the buck deer velvety new antlers, is just one of the many names recognized for our Moon this time of year. In addition, it will also appear as the third & final eclipse of this eclipse season. With a telescope, you can watch the partial penumbral lunar eclipse as the northern edge of our Moon passes through the partial shadow of Earth. Without one, the Buck Moon will still be a wonderful sight to see!
