World Space Week 2020

Have you been celebrating World Space Week (WSW)? This year’s theme is “Satellites Improve Life” to educate the public on the many ways satellites impact life here on Earth! Even observing satellites from home is a simple way to spark inspiration and curiosity. You can differentiate a satellite from a star by its slow movement, and you may notice the satellite looks like it’s blinking when it is actually rotating.

WSW is “an international celebration of science and technology, and their contribution to the betterment of the human condition”. The week-long holiday is held every year from October 4th – 10th to honor of the launch of Sputnik 1 (10/4/1957) and the signing of the Outer Space Treaty (10/10/1967).
