Red Canyon is seeking a self-motivated, detail oriented, experienced Software Engineer to work with the FDS system on the Fermi mission at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). This role will be staffed at a half time effort and performed on-site at GSFC.

The software engineer will maintain, test, and deploy the current command management/mission planning system and flight dynamics system for the Fermi mission on a Linux platform through correction of approved change requests. This includes application software and scripts. The candidate will be required to maintain documentation; manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables; and adhere to all current software development lifecycle processes and procedures.

Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
• Experience with Version Control Software, CVS
• 5+ year experience developing in C, C++, Motif, and Java in Linux environments.
• 5+ year web development experience using PHP, Javascript and MySQL
• In depth understanding of programming concepts.
• Experience with Red Hat 5.x and 6.x and Windows Operating Systems
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Excellent teamwork skills, result oriented and self-motivated.
• Experience with one or more including but not limited to: Apache Webserver, STK, STK Scheduler, and TrackGear
• Interest and ability to learn other coding languages as needed.
• Good organization skills to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Due to contractor requirements, only U.S. citizens will be considered

Desired:
• Ability to work collaboratively with a flight operations team
• Familiarity with satellite operations environments
