Requires an overall 5+ year practical experiences in architecture, design, development, and deployment of integration services in Java with enterprise systems.

The skilled Integration Architect and Java Services Engineer will assist in the adoption of an enterprise integration platform. Duties will include:

• Advise on and participates in service governance to ensure delivery of desired business value;
• Participates in and advises on the full systems life cycle of architecting, designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining and supporting public facing and enterprise wide integration Tools and Platforms, including java integration services, service bus and messaging platforms;
• Designs and delivers enterprise integration services that are flexible, efficient, intuitive to use, easy to maintain, and consistent with NREL standards;
• Assists with problem solving and troubleshooting in a Java Application Server environment;
• Acts as technical resource, strategy advisor, and architecture liaison;
• Ability to translate business requirements into working applications using software development best practices;
• Participation in component and data architecture, design, third party product evaluation, and buy versus build recommendations;
• Helps guide architecture and design best practices and infrastructure tools be adopted by the team; and
• Builds strong relationships with business clients and project managers to maintain outstanding customer service, meet expectations for results, and ensure client satisfaction

Required Knowledge, Skills and Attributes
At a minimum 5(+) years of experience with:
• Service based integrations architecture and java enterprise platform tools (which may include Oracle SOA Suite, JBoss SOA/EAP/Fuse, Spring Integration, SwitchYard);
• Architecting, developing, and deploying enterprise class service API’s in Java, design patterns and best practices (SOAP, REST, JSON, WSDL, XSD);
• Practical experience implementing enterprise integrations, and recommendations on alternate design approaches: point-to-point, event driven, push vs. pull, asynchronous vs. synchronous, message passing, SOAP vs. REST, orchestration vs. service choreographies; and
• Web service maintenance & support, including best practices for versioning, security, documentation, supporting client packages, and deployments

A minimum 8 (+) year experience with:
• Java enterprise architecture and development in a cross-platform and cross-browser support environment (Linux, Windows, Mac OS);
• Java data modeling and transaction management (Hibernate/Spring/JPA);
• Hands on knowledge of Java unit testing and code coverage tools (JUnit, Mockito, EasyMock, Cobertura, etc.);
• Hands on experience managing dependencies and automating java builds, unit testing, and deployments (Ant, Maven, Jenkins);
• Demonstrated experience with Java application servers – configuring, managing deployments, and troubleshooting (Tomcat, JBoss, Weblogic);
• Practical experience architecting and delivering reusable services that bring business value; and
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with customers, business analysts, developers, and project managers

Preferred Qualifications:
• Hands on experience with JBoss EAP/SOA platform, and deployment of real-time REST based / message-oriented services. Experience with Data Virtualization, Switchyard a plus;
• Software configuration management and continuous integration experience in a SOA environment including change control and deployment management (Maven, Jenkins, Subversion, Git);
• Project tracking and reporting tools (JIRA, ServiceNow Release & Project Management); and
• Experience in a SCRUM/Agile project environment, with broad Generalist experience -- from Architect to Operations
