Red Canyon is seeking a self-motivated, detail oriented, goal driven Software Development Engineer working on an exciting planetary mission in the Los Angeles, CA area.

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to support exciting projects/missions. The successful candidate will work as part of a team of software developers, system administrators and other mission team members.

Work Activities:
Work with Mission Control Systems to develop software applications to support flight projects, including uplink command and downlink telemetry processing.
Support all phases of the spacecraft development life cycle: Launch, cruise and EDL as well as science operations
Debug and root-cause complex problems and issues found in products/systems
Write quality test documents and reports

Required Skills:
Strong experience in web technology including, but not limited to: RESTful web services, web user interface frameworks, JavaScript, Node.js frameworks
Experience with Python, Flask, and web development
Knowledge of modern software development tools and practices: GitHub, Eclipse, continuous integration, automated software testing, Agile methodology, DevOps, etc.
Database experience including SQL
Knowledge of secured network communication protocols and SSL certificate
Strong software engineering skill with strong system debugging and issue solving skills
Extensive knowledge of software build cycles
Experience deploying code
Experience in software architecture
Good verbal and written communication skill for end users issue analysis support

Desired Skills:
Prior experience of JSON and XML processing
Knowledge of object-oriented or service-oriented design patterns
Knowledge of container and runtime orchestration frameworks (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos, Elastic Container Service)
Knowledge of LINUX and RedHat operating systems
Knowledge of Cloud technology and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Ability to work with a team of 8-10 software engineers under pressure of firm deadlines
Knowledge of spacecraft systems and telemetry data packaging and processing
Knowledge of JPL Software Development Standard Practices (SDSPs)

Work Location:
The position is located in Pasadena CA.

Education / Work Experience:
Bachelor of Science in STEM related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of related experience.
