Red Canyon is seeking a self-motivated, detail oriented, goal driven Platform Systems Engineer on the DSIO program at Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA.

Raytheon Pasadena is looking for a Platform System Engineer to support customers located at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The successful candidate will assist with future platform architecture research and development. The candidate will be responsible for assisting in evaluations of computer platforms appropriate for use by the Mission, a large, near real-time, spacecraft ground data system containing multiple distinct processing subsystems and databases for downlink processing, analysis, data delivery, uplink sequencing, commanding, and spacecraft navigation.

· Assisting with the evaluation of computer platforms including physical machines, physical servers running virtual machines, and cloud computing platforms.
· Providing expertise related to the peripherals needed by the processing machine which will include:
o Disk storage local to the machines
o Remote disk storage
o Thin clients / virtual desktop infrastructure
o Monitors
· Documentation of evaluation findings and platform characteristics
· Working with development teams to understand their platform needs

Required Skills:
· Must have a system engineering background with computer systems knowledge (Computer Science and/or Information Technology).
· Must be familiar with the Linux operating system
· Experience in one or more ground data system area (Command & Telemetry, Planning & Sequencing, Mission Design & Navigation, Science Data System engineering, Ground Network engineering, GDS integration & test, GDS ATLO engineering, GDS operations, and/or Data Management)

Desired Skills:
· Knowledge of flight system (Real-Time operating system: Integrity, vxWorks) flight software and simulation support equipment
· Must have a proven ability to establish task priorities and resolve issues in a team environment
· Demonstrated problem solving, technical leadership, and proactive team-building skills
· Must have good communication skills, including the ability to write and review technical documentation
· Familiar with mission operations software systems, such as the AMMOS

Education and Years of Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Computer Science or related technical discipline with a minimum of 4 years of related experience
