Space Fact of the Week
Eat Your Greens, Astronauts!
Middle and high school students are helping NASA scientists feed astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) by growing and testing new varieties of plants in the lab. These studies will help determine which types of plants can be grown in space. The newest varieties include 'Dragoon' lettuce and 'Extra Dwarf' pak choi, and will be going to the ISS on SpaceX CRS-15 for further testing.
This is just another example of how the next generation will take us farther than we've ever gone through STEM education and opportunities!
